Mandatory Tips for Emerging Artists
When starting our career, we all made mistakes we wish we could take back. Despite being an emerging artist, here are a few things we think you should keep in mind:
Have a Professional Website
When you have recently started your career, having a social media platform to showcase your art isn’t enough. Sooner or later, you will need to have an official website where people can reach out to you or check out your portfolio. Make your web address easy to remember or preferably your name to help people find you without much effort. Don’t go for free website options that won’t let you keep your name as your address.
A website is also a great way to maintain your presence on Google.
Think Like a Professional
It is never too early to deem yourself professional. Thinking and planning ahead of time is smart and can keep you afloat when the real world hits you. When you are an emerging artist, trying to make your way through art school or college, the future doesn’t look like an impending reality. However, most of the emerging artists fail miserably because of the lack of planning and strategy. You need to spend time figuring out your target audience and analyzing the business aspect of the art career.
Keep Practicing
The only thing better than practice is more practice. In order to master any skill or talent, you must fail at it endlessly. You are going to fail a lot at something before you start succeeding at it.
If you don’t quit making excuses and start to take it more seriously, someone else will achieve everything you have ever dreamed of.
Socialize
If you expected that as an artist, you wouldn’t have to be a ‘people’s-person’ and sell your art over the internet, you couldn’t have been farther from the truth. Sure, we agree that most people have moved towards digital platforms to fulfill their needs, but your career cannot thrive without some networking. Meeting with the right people is necessary to ensure a lifetime of happiness.
Deliver Outstanding Art
Do what you do best without comparing yourself to others. The only outstanding artwork is the one that comes to you naturally. You cannot and should not force yourself to do something just for the sake of doing it. However, we believe and support people who push their limits and go out of their comfort zone to achieve something. Before your career starts to become a mega-hit, sit down to understand your voice or calling.
Get Ready to Paint Some Canvases
Being an amateur in such a historically rich field can be terrifying. One wrong move can make everything fall to the ground. However, being worried about the failure won’t stop them from happening. You can only make sure that you stay clear from the major ones. Having an emerging artist’s paintings in London galleries is a pretty huge deal, after all!
