Vivid colours and untamed brush strokes form the essence of Freya’s paintings. Her paintings are expressive with each piece providing a snippet of her life experience. Capturing the essence of mood, in a place or moment, is what defines Freya’s paintings. In this way, she is keen to allow the ebbs and flows of creativity to naturally unfold so that the production of her artwork is always open spontaneity. Her paintings are a return to a ‘moment’ with the intent of extending time in those special moments, and even inviting the viewer to experience them. As a result, Freya’s artwork explores the relationship between ‘moments’ in time and their context to our life.
It was during her gap year when she combined two of her passions, cricket and art, that her career as an artist truly began. She painted Headingley Cricket Ground during a Roses match, which she then donated to her local club to raise funds. She later went on to donate a painting of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow to Yorkshire County Cricket Club. The painting now hangs in the dressing room area at Headingley Cricket Club. Freya exhibits her work locally and nationally. Highlights have included La Galleria Pall Mall, Chester Arts Fair and the Menier Gallery, as well as a commissioned piece for Weir Minerals Europe Limited. Moreover, in September 2019, David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd showcased one of her cricket bat paintings live on Sky Sports during the Ashes.
