• JO HOLDSWORTH

Jo Holdsworth is an award-winning contemporary British artist known for her paintings of elongated and reflected figures often in blue and grey tones. Jo’s work has been on book, album and magazine covers and is held in public and private collections.

‘It’s the mixture of calm beauty and ambiguity throughout all of Jo Holdsworth’s paintings that mesmerises the viewer.’

London art critic Tabish Khan writing recently about Jo Holdsworth’s work in World of FAD.

A recent article in Arts & Collections described Jo’s work as evoking “with uncanny semblance, the comings, and goings of everyday life. With seemingly effortless brush strokes and a limited colour palette, she crafts an artistic window into quintessentially British scenes. The figures in her work, elongated and striking, dominate her oil on canvas paintings as recurrent leitmotifs. Faceless and eerie, they are denied identity. But this anonymity means each one of them could be any one of us, adding to the undeniably potent imagery of Jo’s work.”

Jo’s recent highly successful Solo Show at 60 Threadneedle Street in the City of London finished at the end of January 2024. Featured in the Sunday Times, Evening Standard, City AM, Arts and Collections magazine and FAD magazine, you can read about the show here

Jo has also had an incredible Solo Show at stunning Neptune Wimbledon in July 2024. You can read more about this show here

Represented by several London galleries and exhibiting widely, including in highly acclaimed solo and group shows, Jo was delighted to receive the prestigious accolade of Royal Arts Prize Visitor’s Choice Award Winner and her joint Award Winners’ Show took place at the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery, Pall Mall, London in March 2020. Jo was one of 30 best selling international artists for the Affordable Art Fair’s summer exhibition in 2021 and featured in their blog called ‘Five Artists You Need to Know’.

Often embracing themes such as hope and loyalty, Jo’s life-affirming paintings attract a strong following and are collected throughout the world. Her striking and unique paintings have bold, cinematic appeal as well as being admired for their distinct colour palette and loose, spontaneous brush work. We are thrilled to represent Jo here at the 508 Gallery and would be delighted if you would like to get in touch with us to commission your own particular piece.
